Jeff Hawke

Holds the rank of Wing Commander. Based at RAF Research Establishment, Farnborough.

Led the Commonwealth team of elite pilots and personnel based at Woomera, Australia during the Martian Invasion emergency. It was  from Woomera that the first international space station was constructed to meet the Martian Invasion.

Jeff Hawke’s co pilot and friend. A Canadian from Shallow Springs, British Columbia.
Joined the Canadian Air Force after graduating in engineering.
Seconded to the RAF. Rank– Squadron Leader.

Selected to join the Commonwealth team of pilots to meet the Martian Invasion threat by constructing the first space station. Based at Woomera Research Station, Australia

 

His Excellency

His Excellency was a lizard-like patrician with the presidential responsibilities of governing the Federation as well as stopping villains like Chalcedon from achieving successful double-dealings.

 

Kolvorok

His deputy, Kolvorok, a one eyed lemon-shaped creature (pre-dating the  Monster Inc film by 45 years), weak and cowardly, forever being humiliated by Chalcedon's deceitful schemes, a bureaucrat through and through.

 

 

Chalcedon

Chalcedon was a popular creation, a space pirate and archetypal villain with enough charm to stay out of trouble. He represented the ‘dark side’, although never too dark. He first appeared in Sanctuary (1956) and as the leading scoundrel was given best lines!

 

 

Laura Gilton

Jeff Hawke’s attractive girl friend of the early years of the strip. She first appeared in The Martian Invasion (1954). Daughter of Dr. Gilton, based at the RAF Station, Farnborough and making her last appearance in Rogue Star (1968) as a Biologist.

 

 

 

 

Fortuna

Named after the asteroid on which she was found. A semi-bionic creature with a human brain, organic, and intricately wired up to the body machine and has psi powers.
